The only disappointment aws that there isn't another outfit suitable for summer. The flamingo is sturdy and the outfits continue to look good after several years of being outside. Totally cool! I want to use him indoors as my door greater but unless I can come up with a creative way to stand him up he may just end up outdoors. the product is great- i love the kitsch value and it arrived (eventually) exactly as represented. the company? that's a different story. i'm just going to say i wouldn't order from this company again if my life depended on it. their "customer service" department is seemingly just a front for bitter people to work out their inferiority complexes through sarcasm. doubt me? read through some of the negative posts and take note of the company's replies back to their CUSTOMERS who are simply looking for answers. if you don't have to deal with customer service, though, you'll probably be fine. A long-time favoritel; a classic. Have always wanted to own this movie and am nothing less than ecstatic! Many thanks!!!! This is just as charming as it was when I first saw it many years ago!!! It was the part of London close to my home. There is only one word that comes close to accurately describing the enchantingMary Poppins, and that term was coined by the movie itself: supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Even at 2 hours and 20 minutes, Disney's pioneering mixture of live action and animation (based on the books by P.L. Travers) still holds kids spellbound. Julie Andrews won an Oscar as the world's most magically idealized nanny ("practically perfect in every way," and complete with lighter-than-air umbrella), and Dick Van Dyke is her clownishly charming beau, Bert the chimney sweep. The songs are also terrific, ranging from bright and cheery ("A Spoonful of Sugar") to dark and cheery (the Oscar-winning "Chim Chim Cher-ee") to touchingly melancholy ("Feed the Birds"). Many considerMary Poppinsto be the crowning achievement of Walt Disney's career--and it was the only one of his features to be nominated for a best picture Academy Award untilBeauty and the Beastin 1991.--Jim Emerson Rerations < Mary Poppins (Disney Gold Classic Collection) > < Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Full Screen Edition) > < Bedknobs and Broomsticks (30th Anniversary Edition) > < Doctor Dolittle > < Mary Poppins > freaks < Father of Bluegrass Music > < Flatt&Scruggs TV Show - Vol. 5 > < Flatt&Scruggs TV Show - Vol. 6 > < Bluegrass Country Soul > < Flatt&Scruggs TV Show - Vol. 4 > < All-Star Bluegrass Celebration > price:Mvd Visual(2008-07-08) Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Mandolinman) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (An absolute "must-see" for bluegrass fans and players everywhere) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't buy this one , if you own Father of Bluegrass from 1999. Jim Stevens MPLS, MN I watched this video 5 times this week. John Wooden knows the secrets for living a great life and tells it all in this very personal reflection. Phil Jackson, Kareem, and Bill Walton add a lot of insight. Johnny Nick Legendary basketball coach John Wooden, who was revered as the "Wizard of Westwood" while guiding UCLA to 10 national championships (including an astounding seven in a row), presents his philosophy for success in life in this intelligently produced video that transcends the world of basketball. After a notable career as a college player at Purdue, Wooden graduated in 1932 and became an English teacher. And his love of literature and his thoughtful nature are very much on display as Wooden, at the age of 90, sits before an intimate audience and presents his "Pyramid of Success." In Wooden's system, attributes such as friendship, initiative, poise, and confidence all build upon each other to create the pinnacle of "great competitive success." Wooden, speaking in a gentle and articulate manner, offers anecdotes from his decades of coaching, and punctuates his lessons with dramatic vintage game clips showing some of the great players he coached. Appearing in interviews to speak of how much they learned from Wooden are Phil Jackson, Bill Walton, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. In an age when college basketball coaches are often in the public eye for their atrocious behavior, Wooden's thoughtful manner and gentle humor are all the more remarkable. Besides imparting lessons for ballplayers (and others), this is an insightful look at Wooden's remarkable personality.--Robert J. Macaualy Culkin became a star with this film and Joe Pesci showed more acting talent om this film. The ending in the film is one of the funniest and when I have kids I'll show them this treasured classic. This dvd has alot of deleted scene's that made me feel like watching the first time all over again. There are awhole alot of features that were worth every penny, shipping and handling and waiting that was all worth it. Now I'm gonna go watch this film again. I still remember when I saw this movie as well as the second one and to me these will always be Macaulay Culkin's two greatest movies. I think what also made the two home alone movies great were the bumbling burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern it's sad that Hollywood had to make a third and fourth Home Alone with such disaster. I think we're also waiting for the first two movies two come out on blu-ray I know that I'll be getting those for my new blu-ray collection. I know it sounds a little mean but I also like watching these movies before Macaulay Culkin's sad decline from the movies and what he's done with his life. That out of the way if you're looking for a good family funny Christmas movie get these movies in your collection because while you might like to get it on blu-ray sadly there isn't a release date yet so for the price I say again get the first two movies and leave the third and fourth movie on the store shelves... I think just about everyone in America has seen this move. And for good reason, it's fun, it's clean, it's a good time. Great story, decent acting, and good direction make this a must see for parents with kids. Recommended. It's funny how certain films bring back fond memories of a certain time and place in one's life. I can remember back when this film came out in the early nineties and I was a kid at my Grandmother's house in Matteson, Ill (which ironically enough is a suburb of Chicago) for Christmas and sometimes Thanksgiving, always watching this film year after year for the holidays. It was like a tradition of sorts. This movie never failed to make my cousins and I laugh and I enjoyed the film enough to where I actually took my own sled and attempted to sled down the top of my staircase at home and out the front door during the wintertime...it didn't work out quite as well as the movie. I won't go over the synopsis of the film, I think it's been explained enough times. I would recommend Home Alone to any family or anyone looking for a film to watch around the holidays. Now and forever a favorite among kids, this 1990 comedy written by John Hughes (The Breakfast Club) and directed by Chris Columbus (Mrs. Doubtfire) ushered Macaulay Culkin onto the screen as a troubled 8-year-old who doesn't comfortably mesh with his large family. He's forced to grow a little after being accidentally left behind when his folks and siblings fly off to Paris. A good-looking boy, Culkin lights up the screen during several funny sequences, the most famous of which finds him screaming for joy when he realizes he's unsupervised in his own house. A bit wooden with dialogue, the then-little star's voice could grate on the nerves (especially in long, wise-child passages of pure bromide), but he unquestionably carries the film. Billie Bird and John Candy show up as two of the interesting strangers Culkin's character meets. Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are entertainingly cartoonish as thieves, but the ensuing violence once the little hero decides to keep them out of his house is over-the-top.--Tom Keogh Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) has become the man of the house, overnight! Accidentally left behind when his family rushes off on a Christmas vacation, Kevin gets busy decorating the house for the holidays. But he's not decking the halls with tinsel and holly. Two bumbling burglars are trying to break in, and Kevin's rigging a bewildering battery of booby traps to welcome them! One day the famed candymaker Willy Wonka who creates the most amazing and delicious candies in the world as he reopens his factory, he sends out five golden tickets in Wonka Bars as everyone in the world searches for the tickets. Charlie wants to win that ticket so badly even though he barely buys chocolate, but fortunately he finds one of the golden tickets which makes his dream come true. The prize is a tour of the legendary and mysterious Wonka factory where the other winners (Julie Dawn Cole, Paris Themmen, Denise Nickerson and Michael Bollner) including Charlie and his Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson) get the tour of a lifetime as they meet the magical and unique Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) himself shows them a world of edible stuff, chocolate rivers, one trippy boat trip and the secrets of Wonka's success. A magical and entertaining masterpiece of a movie that is one of the most beloved fantasy-musical fantasy movies since "The Wizard of Oz". This is one of those timeless movies that still appeals to both kids and adults alike with it's witty humor, great performances and memorable music score! Roland Dahl wrote the screenplay even though it's loose to the original book he wrote. The film is a pop culture icon that is inspiring and unique even with it's unforgettable songs and memorable quotes, it's a classic. This DVD offers a widescreen presenation with great picture and sound quality with great extras like two featurettes, audio commentary, 4 sing-along songs, trailer and photo gallery. I needed this DVD for my 8 year old for her acting class. I ordered it at 6PM at night and received it before 10AM the next morning...and we live in a small town in the country! The tape had no flaws and we're extremely please with it and the quick delivery. I grew up as a chld loving this movie. It is the first movie when i was a kid that really gave me an outlook on what I had and others didn't. Also this movie suprises you around every corner. You never know what will happen next. I think it is a great movie for kids. It is very colorfull, and with the music it grabs kids attentions. This is my 3 yr old sons most favorite movie, and the only movies he will sit and watch all the way through till the end. Anyone who has kids should get this movie for them. It is entertaining and really is a heart filled movie. Especially the very end when Charlie learns that he will get the choclate factory. It's a must get for anyones collection of movies. The old Willy Wonka, I used to watch as a child. My 3 and 4 y/o enjoy it all the time, we enjoy it as a family. Having proven itself as a favorite film of children around the world,Willy Wonka&the Chocolate Factoryis every bit as entertaining now as it was when originally released in 1971. There's a timeless appeal to Roald Dahl's classic children's novel, which was playfully preserved in this charming musical, from the colorful carnival-like splendor of its production design to the infectious melody of the "Oompah-Loompah" songs that punctuate the story. Who can forget those diminutive Oompah-Loompah workers who recite rhyming parental warnings ("Oompah-Loompah, doopity do...") whenever some mischievous child has disobeyed Willy Wonka's orders to remain orderly? Oh, but we're getting ahead of ourselves ... it's really the story of the impoverished Charlie Bucket, who, along with four other kids and their parental guests, wins a coveted golden ticket to enter the fantastic realm of Wonka's mysterious confectionery. After the other kids have proven themselves to be irresponsible brats, it's Charlie who impresses Wonka and wins a reward beyond his wildest dreams. But before that, the tour of Wonka's factory provides a dazzling parade of delights, and with Gene Wilder giving a brilliant performance as the eccentric candyman,Wonkagains an edge of menace and madness that nicely counterbalances the movie's sentimental sweetness. It's that willingness to risk a darker tone--to show that even a wonderland like Wonka's can be a weird and dangerous place if you're a bad kid--that makes this an enduring family classic.--Jeff Shannon A poor little boy wins a ticket to visit the inside of a mysterious and magical chocolate factory. I have watched it several times and I will keep watching it. It has so much meaning and caring and Richard Dreyfuss did a great job. "Mr. Holland's Opus" is an excellent movie! More importantly, however, the introduction of Jean Louisa Kelly's George Gershwin solos to movies -- particularly "Someone To Watch Over Me" -- is incredible, and just plain sensuous! I find myself drawn to hear her sing it over and over. But the subplots of Holland and his son, of the love story between Holland and his wife, and of the incredible affinity between Holland's music students and him, are also excellent. All in all, worth a mature family's watching. A really sensitive and human story about youth and high school orchestra music. I heartily recommend it. Mr. Holland's Opus This DVD is a bit long, but it includes some great music, fine acting, and many touching scenes. I saw it on TV one evening, and decided I needed to get the DVD so I could watch it several more times. Richard Dreyfuss is outstanding as Mr. Holland, a high school music teacher and father. The film covers his life from his first days as a teacher to his forced retirement many years later. His love of his wife and deaf son as well as his dedication to teaching touches many lives through the years. He experiences many highs and lows. If you appreciate great acting and music, you'll love this film. I must confess that before writing this review, I read some of the lower-rated reviews first. It seems that the common complaint is that it's over-sentimental, over-dramatic, etc. I even read one in which the reviewer said it "glosses over" the tragedy of the music program being cut, and shouldn't have been a happy ending. Okay, well, I am a music teacher. I can honestly say that the threat of budget cuts and loss of arts programs is a very real fear that we live with from year to year. We have more work than any other teacher and, in many cases, less respect. Mr. Holland's plight is not terribly exaggerated. Furthermore, his effect on his students is not exaggerated either. I haven't been teaching long enough to have that much impact on my students (one semester of student teaching doesn't really change lives), but I have watched enough music teachers to know that they have a profound influence on students. The concepts in this movie are certainly not made up. This movie is beautiful, and shows not only Mr. Holland's virtues, but his flaws as well -- and how he overcomes them. No one likes the idea of a teacher falling for his beautiful student. No one likes the idea of a father avoiding his son simply because he is deaf. But he overcomes these things, and that is what matters! Throughout his career, he grows as a person and touches many lives. That is what makes this movie beautiful. An earnest and at times overblown story of a music teacher's impact on those around him,Mr. Holland's Opusis at times a genuinely touching drama in the vein ofIt's a Wonderful Life. Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws,Close Encounters of the Third Kind) plays an aspiring composer and musician who takes a job teaching music at a local high school to save money while he composes his music. But when his wife (Glenne Headley) becomes pregnant, Glenn Holland must put aside his dreams and address the everyday realities of his life, from the melancholy and sometimes tragic fates of his students to the discovery that the son he cherishes is deaf. Building to a highly emotional climax in which the teacher sees the impact he's had on the world around him,Mr. Holland's Opusis a showcase for a fine Oscar-nominated performance by Dreyfuss and an engaging, heartwarming story.--Robert Lane A musician resorts to teaching for financial security and discovers his own gift is teaching. USB cord needs to be at least 6 feet long -- was very surprised how short it was. Stu needs to load a Windows-only driver to animate, or eminate, or do anything at all. Maybe someday I'll get a PC to go along with him! My son love it, but I have a problem with my windows XP about it. When I run the program it gives error about like "0.00 ...." I found, it gives error because of windows regional settings, fix it. It very funny now........... This was a Christmas gift for my 26 year old son. He's quite a serious kid most of the time, but he loves Family Guy and really loves Stewie. Once he got it installed and going, he couldn't quit laughing, and his laughter was one of my best Christmas gifts! Olga Style 35984 Years ago I would buy only from Bali&Maidenform and was never really completely happy with the bras I was buying and wearing until I came across these Olga Sheer Tapestry Bras. I've now been wearing these bras for about 7 years now and am always happy with how they fit&the support it gives, how the band in the back&the shoulder straps stay in place, the minimizing of my boobs so I get a more clean flatter look and how comfortable it is for a bra. I tend to always buy these in either the white or the black color and since finding these Olga Sheer Tapestry bras have never gone back to the other bra companies or to any other bra. They used to make a pretty lavendar and a powder blue color bra but I never see those anymore so just buying the black and also the white bras is always the best since they match everything. I have to admit though that you have to be a bit careful that you don't snag the lace or else the bra tends to rip and sometimes the hooks tend to get bent out of shape but as long as they make these I'll keep on buying and wearing them. I find the bra great for when I leave the house and have to go places but sometimes when I get home all I want to do is take it off since it tends to be a bit tight around the back area when you first buy them since its so new. I usually end up taking off the new bra and putting on an older- more stretched out one or just putting on a tight fitting tank top. For all the women who say this is tight around the back area you could also buy those bra extenders and hook it to the bra so its not so tight and a bit more comfortable since they did start making these just a bit tighter than they used to. But, all-in-all this really is the best bra for larger busted chicklets like me. I always wait for them to go on sale which they go for $14.99-$19.99 when they are on sale&well worth it. Great bra that I know you'll love! : ) I have been trying to find this bra for months! I had one that I bought a long time ago, and I loved the fit. Unfortunately, when I looked at the tag(s) to determine the name brand and size, it was too faded (by washing) and, without that information, I was unable to shop by brand. Fortunately, I tried Amazon...and found this long-lost item that I was looking for. No other bra fits me as well... I ordered several of them! I have worn this style for many years. The quality has deteriorated in the last 3 or so years. I am looking for something that fits as well. I maybe found it, I'm glad I read the reviews before I made the purchase so I bought one size larger than I normally wear. If you wear a 36D go for a 38DD and you will get a nice fit. The bra is quite attractive and comfortable but I have to get accustomed to the under-wire. I'm not accustomed to them so I feel it if I'm wearing the bra too long. It is a nice fit under clothes. This is the 5th bra (same bra being sold) I have bought in the past few years and I love the bra. I am a 38dd and most bras make me look like I have 2 watermelons. I love the fact that the bra actually makes you look smaller and firmer, not to mention a sexier cleavage. I have not had sizing problems like other reviews I have read. I feel the reason why in some cases were there are problems with sizing is that the bras are made of a lacey material and there is no give like other spandexy bras, washing and hang drying is a must. I must add being the bra is not as stretchy the support is excellent! This new minimising bra provides shape and boasts seamless cups that give smooth lines under clothing. There is an all over jacquard pattern, giving a light, feminine feel. The first few times, I didn't quite realize where it was coming from. Now I know, and can hardly wait to get a new filter and throw this one away. Yuck! I am retired and I love to do things around the house. Vacuuming is one of the jobs that I almost always do myself. Unfortunately I have an allergy to dust; if I stir up dust it always makes me start sneezing. As a results I am always interested in things that reduce dust in the air. I've used the Eureka 4870 now for over two years and have been very pleased with the job it does. One of the things I appreciate about it is its ability to confine the dust it picks up. This HEPA filter is an important part of that ability. I mentioned in a review on the bags that are recommended with the Eureka 4870 that the bag seems to do an excellent job. That coupled with this filter has eliminated any sneezing for me when I vacuum the house. Another interesting result of the bag's efficiency is the HEPA filter seems to gather dust very slowly. I've checked it regularly and it seems to stay relatively clean even after repeated vacuumings. The combination of the bag and HEPA filter have really impressed me, particularly the fact that I can vacuum the house now without any sneezing at all. I am very happy with my Eureka for an upright and these filters work very well. Filter works really well. It keeps the dust out of the air and off of furniture. This filter fit our Eureka vac perfectly, and we noticed an increase in performance replacing this in our cleaner. The fans have exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier with their performance! I am thrilled to have this new fan. Southern mornings after a hot shower and hairdrying make the bathroom so miserable, that makeup application is like applying to a steam machine. This product is great and a welcome addition to the room. I wish purchased this years ago. I rec'd the item I ordered in good time but it was missing a key component (screws). I contacted customer service via email and phone and was assured the the screws I needed would be sent to me. Well, it's been three weeks and no screws!! I cannot assemble the fan without them. I will do my best to avoid this vendor again. This is a great fan for the money. It's pretty quiet, and actually delivers quite a nice breeze, even on the lowest setting. Highly recommended! I bought the fan for on top of a speaker in my living room. The room is not that big and is connected to the dining room so it does a good job for me. The unit does have a local display in the sensor, so you can still use it as a CABLED thermometer. So on this episode of Storytellers we find Bruce Sprintsteen the solo artist giving us insight into songs (some popular others much less known) that span his career as an artist in general. Bruce treats the show as if his audience are aspiring songwriters. He delves into how he approaches the craft of songwriting more than focusing on the individual stories and I think that's why I really enjoyed it so much. Aspiring songwriters will likely watch this one over and over again, casual fans and fans of the more up tempo side of Bruce may be disappointed. Well, I'm a huge fan of The Boss. But I had one of the worst expriences ever watching this DVD. Why? The trouble, in my opinion, was not all the talking. I appreciated the idea behind the performance and it was even fun. The trouble was the execution of the songs. I knew it was all to be acustic (with only Bruce playing), but I never figured that he would suck out the essence of the songs to the point that they became unbearable to listen, so boring and lifeless they became. Even the great favorite of mine, "Brilliant Disguise", was atrociously mutilated. Bruce gives a inside look at how he approaches his song writing.Good stuff Any inclination to put Bruce Springsteen into the mold of being a shallow pop performer is wiped away after watching "Bruce Springsteen - VH1 Storytellers". "VH1 Storytellers" is a television program where singer-songwriters perform some of their songs and tell about the how and why of each song's creation. One can argue that the program is more for the education and inspiration of budding songwriters than for fans of the artists invited to participate. Still, I'm reviewing this DVD version of "Bruce Springsteen - VH1 Storytellers" as a fan, not as an aspiring songwriter. In this program Bruce sings eight songs, accompanying himself on guitar or piano. No band. On "Brilliant Disguise" he invites his wife Patti Scialfa to sing backup, but otherwise he is alone on the stage. Between the songs Bruce tells the story behind each song. This results in about 40 minutes of music and 56 minutes of talk, at least for the PAL version of the DVD. (Timing may be a bit different on the NTSC version.) Bruce's discussion of his songwriting is very enjoyable, even confidence-inspiring. He comes across as a disarmingly honest person with perceptive insights into human nature. I found myself liking him a lot, much more than I had expected, having my prejudices regarding what show business and success does to people. For example, Bruce mentions that he wrote up a lot of notes in preparation for this program. He then quips that on reviewing the notes he thought they made him sound very self-centered, and figured that for that purpose he didn't need notes! And when discussing "Thunder Road", he dissects the line, "I got this guitar and I've learned how to make it talk." His verdict: "Probably the hokiest line I ever wrote - and I've written a few of them, let me tell you!" Bruce presents both serious songs and fun songs. The serious songs are followed up by serious discussions of personal ideals vs. politics and reality, the influence of religion (his Catholic background) on his songwriting, and the multiple personalities that we each present depending on the situation. All of which I found fascinating - I was impressed by his understanding and his modesty. Following the main program there is a 16-minute question and answer session. This too was very interesting, with Bruce talking about his feelings and motives as a songwriter. For example, when asked about "Devils and Dust", he mentions that he has a couple of boys who are 14 years old, so a parent's concern about his child going off to war has become relevant for him. A few final notes about the DVD itself. As mentioned above, for the PAL version the program is 96 minutes and the Q&A session is 16 minutes, for a total of 112 minutes. Subtitles are available in Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish, but not, unfortunately, in English. Highly recommended, even if you're not a Bruce Springsteen fan. Rennie Petersen I didn't see the VH1 show, or I might have been more prepared for what I was buying. Saw the duration of the dvd and figured the listed songs must be extended versions. So I put in the dvd and sat back, planning to enjoy an evening of great music. But then Bruce began to talk...and talk...and then he talked some more. Yes, he talked about the songs and the story they told. He talked about his philosphy of life that was inherent in those songs and the stories they told. Had I not been expecting and looking forward to hearing him sing songs, perhaps I would have been more interested in his outlook on life. But frankly if I want philosophy I don't go to Bruce Springsteen. I go to Tom Cruise. If you'd rather hear Bruce Springsteen talk than sing or play, then this edition ofVH-1 Storytellersis for you. That's not just faint praise. While it's obviously his music that has made his marathon concerts legendary, Springsteen is also a gifted raconteur; "storyteller" applies to no one if not to him. That's the case here, as he is effortlessly funny and wise, humble and self-deprecating, yet still the ineffably iconic Boss. Drawing from the full breadth of his immense catalogue, from early faves like "Blinded by the Light" (referring to Manfred Mann's hit version, he muses about how the British group managed to turn "deuce" into "douche") and "Thunder Road" to several tunes from his 2005 albumDevils&Dust, Springsteen dissects his songs line by line, explaining how the music fuels, informs, and complements the lyrics. The insights are often fascinating, as is the reminder that he has always had the knack for taking any subject, be it personal or political, and expressing it in the simple poetry of the common man. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that he performs just eight songs, including two on piano, and that the actual music occupies less than forty minutes of this more than two hour show (counting the Q&A session with the fans). So if it's Bruce's music that you want, check out one of his several excellent concerts or video collections. Heck, the man himself seems to recognize that talking about his songs is somehow superfluous when, after going into great detail about the meaning of and motivation behind theDevils&Dusttitle song, he says, "How much of this was I thinking about when I wrote the song? None of it. How much of it was I feeling? All of it."--Sam Graham Rerations < Bruce Springsteen - VH-1 Storytellers > < MTV Unplugged - Bruce Springsteen in Concert > < Bruce Springsteen&the E Street Band - Live in New York City > < Born To Run: 30th Anniversary 3-Disc Set (CD/2DVD) > < Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band - Blood Brothers > freaks < Live from New York City 2005 > < Eminem Anger Management Tour > < Eminem - All Access Europe > < The Up in Smoke Tour (DTS) > < Eminem - AKA > < Nirvana: Unplugged In New York > price:Eagle Rock Ent(2007-11-13) Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Not bad!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (missing stuff) ![]() ![]() ![]() (Yes! That and the fact that the title is Eminem: Live From New York City not whatever the name of the concert was. As for the actual concert, I thought it was pretty good. Eminem seems to have fallen of the grid since his best friend deceased. If I was him I think that I would have done the same since hitting the stage without him when he was by you everytime you went on- now thats just deep if you think about it. Now I'm just getting off topic. But in the concert- it was interesting to see him and Proof togethor at every set. The choice of music itself, it comprised of more of the newer stuff (which is old by now) and I'm not big on his last item but it was ok. As for his old songs-loved them- though, once more its sad to say, the raw energy that Eminem showed once upon a time is gone. I always wondered if he was like an Elvis Presley, if he used some sort of substance. It always apeared to me like he was on a little bit of something (most of the time, alot at others.) Yet, even though this concert did not have that energy Eminem will still go down as one talented M---er F-er and a rap icon and still deserves a bow. Bravo! this was good but i was at the concert and there missin tons of stuff....plus where the hell is 50 everone elses set,,,any body no if thats supposed to come out I'm so stoked this concert is going on DVD. I just watched this on You Tube and wished to watch a good version. And here it is. This is a better concert than the 2002 DVD. This has performances of ENCORE songs (which was the tour that got cut short) has a great ENCORE themed intro plus a lot of old favs like My Name Is, Lose Yourself, Stan..etc. The only thing that disappoints me is that Em didn't do "When I'm Gone", it's one my favs and have yet to hear a live version. Oh well other than that this show is perfect. A Must have for Em fans. Eminem is THE global rap superstar. This concert was filmed at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2005 at the culmination of his farewell tour prior to his retirement. It's a spectacular show with multi-level staging, amazing lighting and guest appearances from D12, Obie Trice and Stat Quo. Originally filmed for US TV station Showtime the show is now available on DVD for the first time and gives us Eminem at his charismatic best. There is a roast of Santa Claus, various comics and actors play characters like the three wise men and Lisa Lampinelli as Mrs. Claus. So this one is not for the kids. There are many kid friendly characters that drive adults crazy so if you got a chuckle out of all those bits where adults beat up Barney the Dinosaur then you might like this. If you are an adult who gets tired of the holiday season or have Christmas burnout this could be great therapy for you. This is an a humorous anti-Christmas special in the tradition of Bad Santa, South Park's Mr Hanky - comic relief not sophisticated high brow comedy. Larry also does a hilarious skit about taking a politically correct all inclusive holiday photo - funny stuff. First off - this DEFINITELY NOT FOR CHILDREN. Then again, not much of Larry's work is for children. With that being said, this is a funny video. It is a take off of all the Christmas specials that were run in the 1960's, 1970's and somewhat into the 1980's. There is some crude humor, but it was nothing more than what I have seen out of Larry before (such as The Health Inspector). It is not politically correct which is another reason I loved it. If you can't laugh at yourself along with laughing at others, please skip this video. I have definitely bought this video, added it to my Christmas collection, and my child won't be watching it for many years to come. i like larry and all but this special was lame and very crude, it was a total waste of viewing time. relying on crude jokes and not funny ones they should've scraped this special all together and burned it. i expected more of larry being clean and fun for a christmas special, i guess he and his writers were scraping the bottom of barrel for laughs cause they're were none. but uglyness and mean sprited against the jolly one. I bought this dvd for my daughter and son-in-law because they were there in person when they recorded it. I watched it on TV and enjoyed the show myself. Mr. Git-er-done got it done. He came through and you will have some laughs. Please be aware this show is not appropriate for children. It's got jokes about Santa Claus having sex with Mrs. Claus. It's got almost-naked strippers shown close-up. It's got language that could get someone on Santa's naughty list. As far as the show itself goes, there are some laughs to be had although most of it is pretty tasteless. Maybe it's just me, but it seems a Christmas show ought to be cleaner? If you want to see some really good Christmas shows, get The Office seasons 2 and 3. Each of those seasons has an excellent Christmas episode you'll probably want to watch over and over. Larry the Cable Guy might seem like an unlikely candidate to host a seasonal variety show but VH1 has taken a chance on the redneck comedian for this amusing 2007 CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR. Larry is joined by an array of special guests as he tries to "Git-R-Done" and the show has been designed as a spoof of the great 1970s variety shows so Tony Orlando who hosted his own TONY ORLANDO AND DAWN RAINBOW HOUR in the '70s makes an appropriate appearance; Flavor Flav and Jamie Kennedy are also featured. The whole event was filmed at a luxury resort in Las Vegas and is sure to keep fans of Larry's inimitable brand of humor chuckling over their turkeys as they enjoy the festive season.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY/STAND-UP UPC: 075993999815 Manufacturer No: 2-276476 Rerations < Larry the Cable Guy's Christmas Spectacular > < Larry the Cable Guy: Morning Constitutions > < Christmastime in Larryland > < Larry The Cable Guy - Git-R-Done > < Lord, I Apologize > freaks < Whoopi Goldberg: Fontaine: Why am I Straight? > < Whoopi - Back to Broadway (The 20th Anniversary Show) > < Jumpin' Jack Flash > < Katt Williams: Live > < Bill Engvall - A Decade of Laughs > < Katt Williams - The Pimp Chronicles Part 1 > price:Hbo Home Video(1999-01-12) customer 's review (FONTAINE) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Needs a DVD release) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Without a doubt - the best of the best) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Hilarious&Thought Provoking!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (A must-see for all Whoopie and stand-up fans) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After the original Whoopi on Broadway, I was pleased that she continued the character Fontaine in another show. For me, everything she's done from this point has been down hill. this was a halarious performance by Whoppi Goldberg. I was lucky to get a hold of the vinyl lp recrod edition. I'd like to see a 20th anniversary edition on dvd in 2008. This is a halarious performance and deserves a dvd release Whoopie is just"Whoopie"- tells it like it is, means it, lives by it, emulates it, and shares it through her comedic excellence. This particular video is Whoopie at her best, passing on her wisdom through the eyes of a"true"American, the real America we all live in. Don't miss it. I am a Whoopi Goldberg fan from way back. I enjoyed her previous video Whoopi: Live On Broadway in which she introduces us to a host of characters, one of them Fontaine. To see her take Fontaine to the next level, clean and sober, with a whole new take on life is truly brilliant. I'm glad I had the chance to see it. Once again Whoopi has done it. Jeanne Triplehorn is from Oklahoma. She has been described as having an incredibly open face and a devastating glare. Her father, Tom Triplehorn, played guitar for Gary&the Pacemakers on such hits as "This Diamond Ring Doesn't Shine For You Anymore." Working with Michael Douglas as the 2nd Lead in Basic Instinct led to Ms. Triplehorn's chance to portray Tom Cruise's wife in the box-office smash The Firm (1993). Her clever work in this film afforded her the opportunity to work opposite other "top guns" in the industry, including Kevin Costner in the futuristic epic flop Waterworld (1995), Gwyneth Paltrow in the experiment-gone-wrong Sliding Doors (1998) and Hugh Grant in the preposterous Mickey Blue Eyes (1999). Though Triplehorn couldn't rescue these Kamikaze missions from certain disaster, her performance in Basic Instinct as the bespectacled psychiatrist Dr. Beth Garner garnered my attention. Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone are so well known that I scarcely need to go into their biographies. Michael was the son of well known, well liked actor Kirk Douglas. He didn't want any of his sons to ply the acting profession, so he never gave Michael so much as a 'foot in the door.' He first got the public's attention playing a cop opposite veteran actor Karl Malden in 'The Streets of San Francisco.' [shot on location in San Francisco, it is fun to watch re-runs for the superb location shots alone]. TV led to films, but it was Basic Instinct that catapulted Douglas to household name status. Other notable roles were Fatal Attraction and Wall Street. Stone was also catapulted into the limelight from the success of Basic Instinct, but fell from grace with Sliver and a slew of slim pickings until finally getting respect and redemption in Casino with Robert De Niro, an Oscar nomination, thank you. Sharon has had some ups, with Basic Instinct, Casino, The Muse, The Quick and the Dead, The Mighty, and Bobby; but others, such as Sliver, Diabolique, Intersection, The Specialist, Catwoman, Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold, and the sequel-that-never-should-have-been, Basic Instinct 2, basically sunk like a... well, Stone. I have a basic theory about Joe Eszterhas. His career was in a tailspin after Sliver, Showgirls, and Jade, so he went down in flames with An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn. Anyone familiar with the name Alan Smithee knows that it is the name a director attaches to a film that he wants nothing more to do with. This film not only capped a string of bad reviews for his writing, it added one for his acting, playing himself for goodness sake, he was such a bad actor he couldn't even effectively portray himself. Besides that, it was a kind of vendetta against Hollywood, and all he had suffered there. I think that Flashdance was brilliant, for a movie about a welder/stripper who wants to go to ballet school, and I would like to see Jagged Edge. Basic Instinct might be the pinnacle of his achievement. You know you are being manipulated with trashy, exploitive garbage, but like Wayne Knight (Newman from Seinfeld) and the other cops in the famous scene in the interrogation room, you don't care. After his apotheosis with Basic Instinct, he slid down the slippery slope with Sliver, Showgirls, Jade, and finally, to kill his career once and for all, An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn. I find it interesting that Sharon Stone plays a sociopathic writer in Basic Instinct, and contend that Eszterhas was drawing from personal experience in that regard. At one point Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) reveals the finer points of her craft, where she asserts that writing teaches you how to lie. She utilizes that skill in beating a polygraph. I find this very telling, Mr. Eszterhas. Though I remember Spetters, I doubt that many other people do. It was a charming foreign film about motorcycle racing, as I recall. Total Recall was totally an Arnold Swarzeneger vehicle supposedly based on the writing of Philip K. Dick, but it came up surprisingly dickless. Robocop, though I personally didn't see it, it was so popular that I remember it nevertheless. Basic Instinct seems to be the high water mark for Verhoeven as well, but his next outing with Eszterhas resulted in Showgirls--not a brilliant career move for either one. Take these actors, this writer, and this director, mix them together in a pot boiler like Basic Instinct, and voila! I liked the way Catherine Tramell knew how to exploit Nick Curran's weaknesses: cigarettes, cocaine, booze, sex, violence--if she could awaken his craving for one, it would lead to the others. All the while, he thought he was solving the case, and that proved to be his biggest weakness of all. Thinking he could out think Tramell in this cat-and-mouse game, where he thinks he's the cat, but he is nothing but a mouse. Though I admit that Basic Instinct was a great film, it remains a guilty pleasure, and though I was entertained, I resent being manipulated in such a trashy and exploitive way. So I will shed no tears for the fall of Eszterhas. BASIC INSTINCT is a masterpiece of human behavior and frailty that could never be made now in these days of extreme political correctness. It pulls no punches in portraying the characters in harsh reality, without remorse or apologies for their flaws. After viewing the movie through once, I went back to the "Extras" and turned on the commentary by the psychologist. Her observations were spellbinding, and I found myself watching the entire movie again. I highly recommend her commentary for anyone seeking a deeper understanding and appreciation for this cinematic classic. The Blu-ray version was superb! Ho Hum. Another Michael Douglas film whereby the puzzle's the thing, and your quest to have them reveal the answer creates more confusion for your brain cells. Not to say this isn't entertaining. Michael is a detective who has been excessive in his self destruction (booze and cigarettes) and the department is keeping an annoying prying eye on him. Investigating a murder, he comes across the not caring one bit out of the mainstream Sharon Stone. She lives life on the edge, and he becomes more deeply involved with her as he tries to figure out the murder. Sharon is called in for questioning, and it is there she exerts her full power and control over the men questioning her. I am surprised the department didn't have drool cups available. Anyway, sex and sin and alternate lifestyles and blond wigs figure into this whole mess. In the end, the cat and mouse game still doesn't get resolved because you are kept wondering who caught who? The movie tries to give you intrigue, but doesn't always hit the mark. The camera, though, does hit the mark when Sharon is on screen, and she saves the movie on her own, without the wooden Michael Douglas and his phoned in performance. For curiosity seekers only. Amazing movie from start to finish. It starts with a bang (literally) and ends with one, once again literally. My pathetic humor aside, excellent movie, Great acting, great story, great twists and turns. I remember the public outrage when this came out. How funny, it seems almost tame by todays standards, or lack there of. My only gripe. Couldn't they have found a better leading man than Douglas? Who wants to look at his saggy old man body? That minor conplaint aside, one of the best thrillers Hollyweird has ever put out. A must see!!! For the few extra minutes of footage, and the bonus features (to see Stone's real audition is worth it alone, it had to be her) this is worth it. The movie is still engaging after all these years, it's a mighty fine erotic thriller. The Directors Cut generates even more heat! Whew... The take-no-prisoners sex thriller from 1992 now stands as a milestone in the career of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, but in the hands of director Paul VerhoevenBasic Instinctis an undeniably stylish and provocative study of obsession. In the role that made her a star (and showed the audience a little more skin than she intended), Sharon Stone plays the cleverly manipulative novelist Catherine Tramell who snares San Francisco detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) with her insatiable sexual appetite during the investigation of her boyfriend's murder. Tramell is the prime suspect, but the plot twists and turns until Curran is trapped in a dangerous cycle of dead ends and unsolved murders, never sure if Tramell is committing the crimes or if it is some other, unknown suspect. With a plot that keeps viewers guessing,Basic Instinctis the work of a director who is clearly in his element.--Jeff Shannon Rerations < Basic Instinct > < Basic Instinct 2 (Unrated, Extended Cut) > < Wild Things (Unrated Edition) > < Fatal Attraction (Special Collector's Edition) > < Eyes Wide Shut (R-Rated Edition) > freaks Model NO. Even so, it is a bit pricey. Quality is good and I have no complaints. It is used to protect an expensive big screen TV. WOuld recommend this product. I bought this item to remove the interference I am receiving through the ac line. The only thing it removed was the money from my pocket. The picture quality on my HD Tv was better before I bought it. This item is worthless and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The picture quality of my non-hd channels is better as a result of using the HTS 1000 MKIII. One thing I like is that it does not impact the quality of my HD channels. With other surge protectors I think there was too much loss (as a result of using the coax filters) and I would see more pixelation. This made watching HD through impossible but with the HTS 1000 MKIII the signal is excellent. I highly recommend purchasing at the Amazon price which is $80 below Best Buy, Circuit City, etc... Will the Monster help us? We have sent back to tv's Samsung and the new Bravia Z because intermittently our tv blacked out for a few seconds - it went completely black. And at times I tried to turn tv on and only got on the picture the hdmi printing and few other lines but no picture. After playing around with comcast remote, finally picture would come on. This happened just a few times. But the total black picture happend about once every couple of days and seemed to happen most on msnbc. Do you think the monster would help us - could we be having a power surge and less power happening intermittently? Very cautious now in purchasing the third HD TV and have felt we purchased the best in the last two - feel something wrong at home rather than tv's. Thanks anyone out there. The product is excelent, the handling and shipping the worst, shame on you Amazon, you are going down. The power coming through AC power outlets is full of interference and line disturbances that cause hum, buzz, and static, degrading your home theater's audio and video performance. In addition, electronic appliances generate electronic noise that affects your home theater sound and picture. Monster Clean Power Circuitry Stage 2 filters provide excellent AC power line noise rejection and isolation of audio and video equipment for component-generated noise rejection. When you connect your home theater components to a Monster HTS 1000 MKIII PowerCenter you'll get the best possible picture and sound from your components. Common power surges, spikes, and dips can easily damage sensitive electronics in your home theater's AV components. The HTS 1000 MKIII features over 6125 Joules of extreme protection that can absorb powerful surges and spikes. Unlike ordinary surge protectors, advanced Monster PowerCenters also actively monitor incoming power and automatically disconnect your valuable equipment before damage occurs. Microprocessor controlled T2 Disconnect/Reconnect circuitry not only protects your AV equipment, but protects your PowerCenter as well. The T2 protection circuitry automatically disconnects the PowerCenter and all of your connected AV equipment when it senses dangerous power conditions, completely isolating them from sags, spikes, and surges. T2 continues to actively monitor power conditions, then automatically reconnects when AC power returns to normal. In addition, Monster's Tri-Mode protection circuitry incorporates an audible alarm that will tell you when your PowerCenter has protected your AV system from damage. So when I picked up my new Sharp Aquos, 1080p, 42" television I was very susceptible to the pitch that I should buy only the most expensive surge protector / line noise reducer possible, the more expensive the better--but I'm not a sucker so I didn't buy it right there and then. Next store, Best Buy, the salesperson recommends the HTS800 as the minimum, and he recommends more expensive ones but not with as much zeal. The difference is that the Best Buy salesperson doesn't work for commission. The logic is of course that if you're going to spend $1500 for a TV, you might as well spend another $100 or so to protect it from electrical surges and clean up the picture static caused by line noise in both our ancient power supply and by our cable provider. I find this on Amazon for no less than a 40 percent discount over what I can find it for anywhere else, and order it, but before I open the package I go to the Monster website to make absolutely sure this one is adaquate--and it is. The difference between this and higher end ones is the capacity and the ability for the unit to not only shut off and sound an alarm when there's a surge, but also turn everything back on safely. This one will turn off everything that's hooked into it and sound an alarm, besides cleaning up the line noise, but that's as far as the description goes. OK, so I open the package and hook it up. WOW. Absolutely huge difference in the picture on the set. I don't think a more expensive one would make a great difference or that it would be worth it for me--on my level of home entertainment--to pay more for a 'better' one. And then, one day soon after, I hear an alarm warning me about a dangerous surge, but it doesn't shut down the system. Perhaps just to assure me, another day it does shut down the cable box only AND then came back on. But the real prize is the picture. There is a huge difference between the quality of the picture on my HD television with this filtering the power and cable lines. I'm thinking of buying another one for my old TV--a Sony Trinitron--because I'm sure it must make a difference there as well. BOTTOM LINE: If you live in a fairly new building, your electrical system is probably not as much of a hazard as mine, but might be just as noisy. And surges are always a big risk, even if you have all new appliances. For what you spend on items like televisions, stereos, and game systems, it's worth paying a bit more to protect them from the kind of damage that insurance wont cover--wear and tear--as well as allow them to perform as intended--better than they do while on display at your local electronics store in fact. This item will not only protect your sensitive electronics, but make them better as well. Clearer images, clearer sound, and it's just plain smart design. Now that I have this one, I definitely would pay for the next level up from this model but I'm also confident that this is all I need. A higher level one has more features, but for my home entertainment purposes I doubt it would really add anything. If one day I really go all out in terms of buying a full home theatre system, I'll spend a couple of hundred dollars on the best one, but this one was made for people like me now who don't have such high end needs but want better-than-expected performance. The PowerCenter was easy to set up. Basically just plug in. Really did not notice in any change in picture quality after attaching the cable. The cable connections are in a slightly awkward spot, would recommend attaching them first, then plugging everything else in. Everything came on time. I bought this surge protector at a reduced price, which I thought was a good deal but actually wasn't in hindsight. After much evaluation, I feel that this product is worth at most $30. Features that I found useful: - The specification says it can withstand a power surge up to 1850 joules, which should be adequate for a thunderstorm. - Spacing of the outlets is reasonable. - The 8-foot power chord is long enough and is wrapped by plastic of good quality. - It has phone line protection. It is a plus for me because my phone happens to be placed right next to my TV. - It has power indicator light and grounding status light. Features that I found useless: - The colorful labels are not helpful because, if you really care, you should tag the cables instead of the outlets. Also, how often are you going to look at the colors once the whole thing is shuffled beneath the furniture? - The so-called $27 bonus value is exaggerated. The coaxial cable is hardly needed, especially if you have cable TV. The phone cable can be bought for under $2. - The audible alarm adds no value because, if you use the electronics, any power outage will be noticed immediately. - The 24K gold plugs do not seem to perform better than regular plugs. - The CleanPower Stage I functionality reduced the ghost shadows of my cable TV by only a little bit (like, two shadows instead of three). This product probably doesn't help much in new buildings where power supplies are already quite clean. After all, many factors may contribute to ghost shadows. Dirty power is only one of the many possible causes. (However, it does appear to stablize the power enough to allow my TV to turn on during a brown-out, which could not be done before. I don't know if it was only a coincidence.) - I didn't have any hope for the $150,000 warranty offered by Monster Cable to begin with, because I think it will work just like all other too-good-to-be-true warranties on the market. Read other reviewers' comments to see for yourself whether you can count on it. I probably could have bought what I really needed for about $15 if I bothered to spend many more hours to hunt for bargains. I feel that I paid mostly for convenience, vanity, and perhaps some false sense of assurance. This product can be a decent surge protector, but is definitely overpriced. I give this product a 4 because it is probably to expensive but it does hat its supposed to do. I bought it when i purchased a news 61 inch tv and a bose surround system and i wanted to make sure that my new stuff was safe. This product does give me piece of mind. It also looks cool and the lable really do come in handy. After a year and a half it shorted out. Smoke eminated from the unit and it filled our home with an awful burnt electronics smell. I'm disappointed and expected more from such an expensive but poorly constructed surge protector. The fact is, analog audio equipment is sensitive to a different type of noise than video, just as video is sensitive to a different type of noise than digital, and so on. In the past, manufacturers have used filters to combat the problem of noise introduced via power sources. Unfortunately, the filters were not optimized to attenuate at the different frequencies that are unique to digital, analog audio, and video realms. Products that managed to deliver truly cleaner AC power were thousands of dollars in price, out of reach for most people. Enter Head Monster Noel Lee. An uncompromising audiophile, Lee joined forces with Richard Marsh, the world's foremost expert on AC power, to develop affordable solutions to AC power problems. The result? Monster Clean Power.
The following overviews of Monster's isolated, specially tuned Clean Power filters demonstrate the methodology behind Clean Power's development. The higher the Clean Power stage, the more advanced the noise filtration. The more advanced the noise filtration, the higher the level of component-to-component isolation.
Optimized to reduce noise generated by digital equipment digital filters isolate digital components from connected analog audio and video components for maximum rejection of interference. Optimized to reduce noise generated by video equipment, video filters isolate video components from connected digital and analog audio components for maximum rejection of interference. Optimized to provide maximum noise rejection for sensitive analog audio components, audio filters isolates audio components from connected digital and video components for maximum rejection of interference. This is a great product at a great price. Fits well and wazs easy to install on the wall. The price is very cheap compared to the expensive ones in the store. Nice product..Important to have clean power for Electronics...satisfied with quality...but that blue light on the strip is too bright....well at least it can double as a night light. This product is definately worth the money. Cleaner power reduces visible noise in television screen images, as well as the hiss you hear coming from your speakers when you have them turned up. Also, every thing connected to this surge protector is insured to over $350,000, an amount likely to cover almost any home entertainment system that any of us non-millionaires can afford. With that said I do have to criticisms: Firstly, although the bright blue power light is attractive and makes the HTS850 look expensive, it can be a tad on the bright side, lighting up the space behind your t.v. cabinet when you have the lights dimmed. Secondly, other than the plugs on the top and bottom, all of the plugs are located on the right side of the unit, making plugging in all of your devices a bit of a hassle, epsecially if they have large plugs. Over all it is an excellent product which I would recommend to anyone looking to protect the entertainment investment. SEARCHED PRICES AND THE PRICE HERE WAS GREAT. Needed this for our new TV and DVD player along with the other components for our TV and surround sound. The prices are out of control... But AMAZON prices were great!!!
Optimized for maximum noise rejection, ultra-high current filters provide maximum current to high power components such as surround sound amplifiers. Reference Home Theater Power Monster recognizes that convenience is vital, too. The PowerCenters feature component-assigned color coding with matching power cord labels for easy identification, and all are rack mountable, for easy integration into custom installed rack mount systems.
